23/05/2012 · I can't dind a datasheet for the DK51 and the SB050 comes up as a rectifier diode. A 2N3904 silicon transistor is the usual transistor used for a Joule Theif. Ideally for your application you need a low power germanium transistor as it should work in a Joule Thief circuit down to 0.5V or less.
